Smoke Exposure Signs

Did you know that if you allow smoking anywhere in your facility (including designated outdoor areas) you should post signs warning of the exposure to “a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer.” This requirement has to do with California Proposition 65 requirements, which has received a lot of attention lately due to a settlement with several skilled nursing facilities.

The California Assisted Living Association (CALA) has posted a legal update on the smoke exposure signage issue that you can access here: http://caassistedliving.org/provider-resources/and-more/legal-library/
