Substance Abuse and Treatment

Community Education is very excited to offer our participants new online courses as they are available. Substance Abuse and Treatment was just recently approved for 3 hours of continuing education credit. Unlimited Access members can now access this course with their annual membership.  

The Substance Abuse and Treatment course continuing education credits are approved by both the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) for staff in assisted living facilities and by the California Department of Social Services for staff in group home and adult residential facilities.

Course Description: This three hour course will address the issues of substance misuse and abuse in residential care facilities. Participants will obtain insight on substance abuse risk factors and incidence. An overview of the human brain and ways in which abused drugs work in our brain is presented. Administrators and caregivers will learn the most common drugs of abuse, including their effects and risks. This course also presents the National Institute Drug Abuse 13 Principals of Effective Drug Treatment. Various types of treatment programs and approaches to drug abuse treatment will also be addressed. To register for this new course please visit us at www.communityed.com.
