May Topic: Are You Charging Enough?

Overview: This program will examine various interventions for appropriate pricing of resident care as well as methods of appraisal to ensure that resident care costs are captured, regardless of the system a community uses for levels of care. In addition to basic assistance with ADLs, the program will look at a diagnosis-based approach to capturing care costs. There will also be a brief review of Title 22 requirements related to pricing and basic services, especially as it relates to SSI recipients.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this program participants will:

  • Explain Title 22 requirements related to basic services
  • Name the three essential components to appraising a resident’s needs appropriately
  • Give two examples of problematic issues with the terms “independent, stand-by, and full assist”
  • State under-billed care services related to medication assistance
  • State often overlooked care related to residents with CHF, COPD, and diabetic care
