Tuesday Tip: RCFE Administrator Recertification – Dementia Training

Don’t forget!  When completing your required RCFE Administrator continuing education hours, you must include at least 8 hours on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.  California RCFE regulation 87407 “Administrator Recertification Requirements” states:

“Administrators who renew their administrator certification on or after January 1, 2003, shall submit proof of having completed at least eight (8) hours of the 40 hour continuing education requirement in subjects related to serving residents with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias, including, but not limited to, instruction related to direct care, physical environment, and admissions procedures and assessment.”

  1. Well I understand that we need to have three location to relocate residents in case of disaster. However, we need an agreement with some hotels. I already talked with some hotel Managers and they don’t want to make an agreement. What can I do?

  2. Hello Patti. You may try contacting local hospitals and schools to see if they serve as relocation sites. You can also contact the regional office of the California Emergency Management Agency to see if they have a referral or designated site in your area: http://www.oes.ca.gov/WebPage/oeswebsite.nsf/Content/1839F4335EAC5111882573FC00689BB6?OpenDocument
