New Falls Toolkit from CDC
Posted on February 5th, 2013 by Care and Compliance
One out of three people 65 and older falls each year. This is a challenge that assisted living and residential care providers are all too familiar with. And while, for obvious reasons, risk management and legal experts suggest that we avoid advertising or making claims to “fall prevention” programs there are interventions we can take to reduce fall risk and effectively respond to falls.
Fortunately the CDC has released a new toolkit to help: STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries). The free toolkit, designed for health care professionals, includes:
- Fall risk assessment tools
- Case studies
- Training tools
- Reference materials for residents
